Real-time editing for professional video production

Adobe is acclaimed worldwide for its impressive software tools, many of which have become true industry standards in different fields and Adobe Premiere Pro is one of it's flagship products. Along with Final Cut Pro, Premiere is one of the best video editing packages on the market. Note that Adobe Premiere is now part of Creative Cloud (CC) which means it is only available on a monthly subscription basis rather than a one-off license.

A highly professional video suite

Adobe Premiere provides professional video creators and producers with all the tools they need for their daily work. The new version maintains a similar interface structure to previous ones, keeping the learning curve to a minimum while offering a redesigned timeline, improved media management, multiple search options, multi-project workflows, and streamlined color grading.

One big change is the integration of Creative Cloud. As well as ensuring that you get new features as soon as they're available, it also offers other benefits such as access to Adobe Stock Service, a royalty free gallery of assets.

Sync projects on any computer

Collaborating on projects has now been made significantly easier thanks to Sync Settings which keep your settings, workspaces (which can now be customized for specific tasks), and even keyboard shortcuts organized across multiple computers. Creative Cloud is also integrated with Behance, so you can share your projects and get instant feedback from other designers and editors around the world.

Creative Cloud doesn’t just allow you to sync between computers, however, as it is now also possible to utilize other devices with the Premiere Clip mobile app. With this, you can film on your phone or tablet and then immediately sync this with your projects timeline.

Format flexible, Blu-Ray, Final Cut support, and more

Adobe Premiere Pro is now fully compatible with other Adobe tools including the SWF format and even Final Cut Pro files. This is thanks to the Adobe Mercury Playback Engine which means you can work natively with a huge, ever expanding, number of video formats compared to most video editors. Amongst the other many other powerful features of Adobe Premiere is the possibility to export to Blu-Ray format and even tapeless video cameras. Most recently, Adobe has also added Live Text templates, Masking and Tracking, Master Clip effect and a faster editing workflow.

Complex for beginners but plenty of help

Design professionals that are familiar with other Adobe products will find Adobe Premiere Pro intuitive and familiar to use. Beginners however may feel overwhelmed by the complexity of this program although Adobe offers highly detailed documentation and lots of tutorial videos about how to get to grips with the basic functionality.

Continued improvements since launch have seen Adobe Premiere Pro’s ease of use continue to grow. These include a Morph Cut, which uses face recognition technology to blend talking head pieces seamlessly together, and improved audio work flow to make voice-overs easier to create and add.

Some users won't appreciate the switch to Creative Cloud and the subscription model it entails and no doubt Adobe will lose some users to Apple's Final Cut Pro. However, it does make collaborating on projects easier, updates are issued instantly and integration with other Adobe products is much improved.

Still an industry standard video editing suite

Adobe Premiere Pro is a state-of-the-art video authoring tool that features all the tools, functions, filters and effects you need for professional video edition and creation.
